Our City

Our city was built on a poor foundation,

And on this, were dusty concrete jungles of conflict,

Which touched dark, cloudy skies of despair

Our city’s name would send an unpleasant chill down people’s spines,

Because everyone knew our history,

We never thought that the terrible city you and I built together would emerge into something beautiful,

We never believed that things would get better for us,

No one had faith in our reconciliation

It was only until words were said,

And hearts were exchanged when that poor foundation,

Became the richest soil you could ever find,

Our city was finally built upon an incredible trust

We destroyed those old buildings and replaced them

Who knew?

Who knew?
